After their 3rd place finish in the the inaugural 2012 Heidelberg International U-16 Rugby Sevens the Dog River Howlers are making plans to return for the June 8 and 9, 2013 tournament in this historic German city. At last years 4 country/8 team tournament they beat the Romanian National Team, Paris and Alsace (both from France) provincial sides before loosing to the French national champions Pyrenees (basically the Toulouse Academy) to move on and win a bronze medal. This upcoming year the tournament has been expended to 16 teams from 7 countries. I'm sure will see a number of these young "up and comers" from the 2012 and the 2013 U-16 Howlers teams wearing the Canadian colors in due course on the IRB 7's circuit and of course hopefully the ultimate goal -- the Olympics.
