Kerry Singh, better known to former teammates and friends as Huggy, was a member of the Balmy Beach RFC of Toronto in 1993 when he suffered a spinal cord injury while playing rugby.  The injury resulted in quadriplegia and in 1994 the Balmy Beach Rugby Club, friends and family helped Huggy raise money to purchase a van that could be modified for him to drive.  This helped him improve his quality of life and allowed him to enjoy his independence of mobility, but the van is over 15 years old now and in need of being replaced. The cost of this new vehicle would be about $50,000.

The Dog River Howlers direct contributions of $8,500 combined with the Howlers/Rugby Canada  "We Stand On Guard ForThee " funds for Huggy of  $3,905 gives us a grand total of $12,405. A great start to a most worthy cause!

As you can see from the below list some very prominent names in the Canadian rugby community have stepped up. Please take the time to spread the word to your rugby network. Particularly noteworthy was that some of  2011 Canadian RWC team members that received some $54,000 last summer from the first Howlers/Rugby Canada "We Stand On Guard ForThee" fundraiser are also participating in the endeavour. That says a lot for these young men because as carted athletes the have very limited financial resources. Hats off also to the Saskatoon Wild Oats who's contribution of $500 will hopefully set the tone for clubs across the country. Please take the time to spread the word to your rugby network and help us stand on guard for one of our fellow rugby brothers and again show that "it's more than a game, it's a way of life"

To add some extra incentive, Rugby Canada and The Dog River Howlers have offered the signature "We Stand on Guard for Thee" prints (see attached picture).  Donations of $250 or more will receive one of the "We Stand on Guard for Thee" paper print and donations of $500 or more will receive a canvas print.  These prints were very popular with the fundraising effort last year and feature signatures of all Rugby World Cup Captains on the back.

Donations made on this secure fundraising page (http://donate.rugbycanada.ca/e/huggy ) automatically will receive an  official e-receipt. If you prefer to send a cheque, please make it payable to Rugby Canada using the acronym WSOGFT in the memo field and address it in the following manner:
