Howlers " Back To The Future " - Tom Woods
==================
The Dog River Howlers Rugby Club's facebook page (www.facebook.com/dogriverhowlers) will be publishing a series on Canada's ex international players (men and women) to let you know who these trail blazers were and are now. This is the first in the series .

1. Tom Woods
------------

Born (place and date): Esquimalt BC October 29, 1962

Early rugby - school(s), club(s), rep sides and age grade Canada teams with dates : Highrock Junior High, Esquimalt High School.

Later rugby - club(s), select sides, Canada (including the number of caps) with dates: James Bay Athletic Association, Crimson Tide, BC and Canada 1984-1997.

Number of caps : 19

Your Influences: Tillman Briggs, Gary Johnston, Hans DeGoede, Pat F--kin' Parfrey, Murray Allen

Most memorable rugby game(s)/experience(s)/memories: Most memorable game was the 1991 World Cup 1/4 final and all of my most memorable rugby experiences/memories revolve around social, drinking, non-rugby evenings with the boys when we were allowed to blow off a little steam.

How did rugby effect/influence your life: Everything - jobs, career, health, family, wife, friends, etc., is in some way tied to rugby. If I lived 125 years I could not give back what the sport has given me.

Current involvement in rugby: Past-president JBAA 2002-2012, President/Manager/of the Canadian Classics 1995-2013, Rugby Canada Business Development role currently.

What are you doing now (residence, work, family etc): Esquimalt BC, 3 daughters 10,10 ad 7, C/L wife Heidi. I do contract work after retiring from the police and fire department in December 2012 after 30 years.

Input/suggestions for Canadian rugby and or young players: Don't lose the social aspect of the sport. It is what sets us aside and miles ahead of every other team sport out there and keeps us tight as Canadians!
