As Rugby West Indies men's head coach from 2005 to 2009 they competed in the IRB's 7's circuit( USA7's, Hong Kong 7's) along with winning the Trinidad 7's five times. While coaching Guyana they were NACRA 7's champions twice, won gold in the Central American Games and also competed in the Commonwealth Games(Delhi) and the IRB USA 7's. After coaching Barbados from 2003 to 2006 he has recently again taken on this position. Joe upon accepting this position commented that "it is always special to work with young talented and dedicated athletes".

Tyler Leggatt who last year was an assistant coach with Robin MacDowall (who is playing and coaching this year with the senior men in the Elite Men's Division) at the Stampede 7's as been appointed as the head coach of the Howlers Las Vegas Invitational High Scholl Elite Division team. The Bowties and Sweethearts Valentines Gala that the Dog River Howlers Rugby Club initiated 2 years ago to raise much needed funds for abused women and children's shelters will again be held this year at at the Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina, Saskatchewan on February 9. Last year this event raised some $100,000 (http://blogs.leaderpost.com/2012/02/12/bowties-sweethearts-valentines-gala-an-overwhelming-success/ ) . Howlers' Tim Young (Young's Equipment) will again be one of the major supporters/sponsors with his most generous $25,000 contribution.

Many thanks go out to artist Ladd Fogarty who also donated the "Dog River" and "We Stand On Guard For Thee" paintings for previous Howlers fundraising endeavours. He again kindly donated this attached amazing piece of art (Muscowpetung Sage Woman ) to be auctioned off at this event. There will also be 60 limited edition 24" by 18" numbered and signed gilclee canvas prints for sale at $400 each (with a tax receipt) .

Here is what Ladd wrote --- I am an Art teacher and a student of art; always exploring new media and processes and watching how young people learn. I am currently working in acrylic, wood, clay, soapstone, and glass gaining most of my inspiration from Saskatchewan land, sky, water and people who live in harmony with the earth.
When I begin the creative process I look forward to the challenge of making something beautiful. I choose to represent ‘place’ as it is experienced and as it is remembered, always considering the characteristics of light on the painted, carved or inlaid surface.

Each painting, wood vessel and clay object gives me the opportunity to share my way of experiencing our world. I consider myself very fortunate when others enjoy my work. This is the most satisfying part of the creative process.
This painting was created specifically for this cause and as a tribute to the journey of self-discovery of my first daughter and first granddaughter. Mia and Geneva are of Cree and Saulteaux heritage, both carry the name Wapiskihit Kihew Iskwew (White Eagle Woman) proudly. I have been blessed to be their Father /Grandfather and know their future is good because of traditions such as what is represented in this painting “Muscowpetung Sage Woman”.

The chief of the village Nacamaki (on Koro Island in Fiji) recieves the Ultra 7's "Peckham Cup" after their rugby team defeated the Tua Tua Rugby Club (also on Koro Island) on December 22, 2012. This was the first Ultra 7's ( www.facebook.com/Ultra7sRugby?fref=ts)  game played in Fiji. The Dog River Howlers Rugby Club   sponsored this event in the way of the new strip for the Nacamaki club (which Howlers player Peni Lutu who organized this event used to play for prior to moving to Canada), the actual Peckham Cup, 50 game balls (distributed to various villages) and 70 t-shirts.  Further details about this historic game and the entire Ultra 7's day will follow in due course (as there are no internet connections in these villages) by way of an official press release as further information becomes available.
